Camp Aide Program Description

The Camp Aide leadership program is the first step to working at Camp Daggett! This two-week long program will consist of three pillars: leadership, service to camp, and camper experience.  

The Leadership pillar focuses on all the skills that Camp Aides will need to become effective CITs and Counselors. Each day, Camp Aides will participate in a leadership training session that covers important topics like camper behavior management, basic first aid, homesickness prevention, camper supervision, and teambuilding. 

Camp is all about the campers! The Service to Camp pillar focuses on the behind-the-scenes aspects of working at Camp. Over their two-week session at Camp Daggett, Camp Aides will become stewards of camp and the earth. This ranges from helping take out the trash, to doing dishes, to helping with night activities. 

Camp isn't complete without fun! The Camper Experience pillar is that Camp Aides will spend part of each day participating in camp activities. They will have opportunities to go sailing, do arts and crafts, shoot archery, and play games. 

Dates: 

Session 1: June 20th - July 3rd 

Session 2: July 4th - July 17th  

Session 3: July 18th - July 31st  

Session 4: August 1st - August 14th  

Associated Fees: 

The two-week Camp Aide leadership program has an associated cost of $650. This covers three meals a day from check-in to check-out, snacks, staff associated with the program, and any special events/weekend fun activities planned for the Camp Aides.  

Scholarships for the Camp Aide program are available for all applicants, and all who may benefit from a scholarship are highly encouraged to apply. Scholarships for the Camp Aide program are NOT restricted to those in the Char-Em School District and are available to selected applicants from all geographical regions. Scholarship awards are confidentially handled by the Camp Registrar, and applications and awards are not available for review to the Camp Aide hiring team.  

How to Apply

Individuals interested in becoming a Camp Aide will fill out an application, available HERE, and will interview with Camp Daggett Leadership Team members. If selected for a spot, Camp Aides will then be sent a link to register for their offered session. All paperwork must be completed by a parent/guardian by May 1st.  

Camp Aide FAQs

  • Beginning in 2027, Camp Aides are campers! This will allow Camp Aides to get the full leadership camp experience. Camp Aides will learn leadership skills, give back to camp, and still participate in all the activities they love at Camp Daggett! 

  • Camp Daggett is a device free zone. Please leave all devices at home. Camp Aides may bring an e-reader that does not have internet access or a screenless mp3 player for entertainment. Please note that Camp Daggett is not responsible for lost or stolen personal items. 

  • Camp Aides will select from a variety of options with their counselors and the Camp Aide Director to plan a fun-filled and exciting weekend! Some options might include going on a camp out, spending a day on Walloon Lake, making baked goods in the camp kitchen, and/or having a movie night in the Lodge.
