Why did camp close?

The decision to close camp was not arrived at lightly.  Considering the situation currently facing our state, nation and the world, we cannot provide a summer camp experience that would meet the standards you have come to expect.  It is with camper, staff and community safety in mind that this decision was made by the Board of Trustees.  Current guidance on social distancing, mass gatherings and personal protective equipment would not allow us to deliver high quality programming for this summer.

How will I get my refund?

If you would like a full refund of all deposits and balances paid at this time, please email ed.leverenz@campdaggett.org with your camper’s name(s) in the subject line.  Checks will be delivered by mail to the address listed on your application.

 This was supposed to be my campers last year, can they come next year?

We understand how difficult it will be to not have a camping season this summer, and this is certainly true for our 14-year-old campers who may have been looking forward to their final year at Camp Daggett.  Automatic refunds will be issued for all registered 14-year-old campers in traditional summer camp and 15-year-old wilderness campers.  Wilderness Adventure Trips will be available for 13 to 15-year-old campers in 2021. The Camp Daggett staff is also exploring additional opportunities for these 14-year-old campers.

What if I paid the entirety of my camper fees?

You may request a refund of the entire amount, or a refund of all that you paid except for the $100.00 deposit if you want to hold a spot for the 2021 summer camp season.  The other option you could choose is to have Camp Daggett keep a $100.00 deposit for the 2021 season and have a portion of the balance stay with Camp Daggett as a donation.

Will camp have anything this summer?

At this time there are no planned events or activities at Camp Daggett.  We will continue to monitor the directives from the state and local government and health departments as to what might be allowed and in the best interest of participants, staff and community.

How can my camper become a camp aide next summer?

Applications for camp aides will be available later this summer.

Has Camp Daggett ever been closed in the past?

In the 95 years that Camp Daggett has existed, it closed down only one other time and that was in 1945 during WWII.  The reason at that time, per a newspaper article dated March 22, 1945, was that “capable leadership has become increasingly hard to obtain since the start of the war.”  “Rather than lower the standards of Daggett it was decided to cancel this year’s activities.”

When can I register my camper for summer camp 2021?

Registration will be as usual in early January 2021. All 2020 registered and wait-listed campers will be sent applications.

Can I reserve a spot for my child in the 2021 summer camp sessions?

Yes, if your child has already been registered for a 2020 camp session, they will automatically be reserved a spot for 2021 in the same corresponding week in the 2021 session. We will keep your deposit and any balance that has already been paid and apply it to your 2021 application.  If you paid more than the deposit, you may choose to have all, or a portion of the balance refunded to you by contacting the camp business office, care of: Ed.leverenz@campdaggett.org

If my spot is reserved, why must I reapply?

State licensing rules require us to have a current/updated application on file for your camper. Health, contacts, insurance and releases all must be updated. Please know, since you are already insured a spot, you do not have to rush/overnight your application in this year. To assist our front office, we ask that your updated application be returned to us by February 4, 2020.

 Can I cancel my reserved spot for 2021?

Yes, you may cancel at any time until December 1, 2020 for a full refund. After December 1st, you will lose your deposit and any balance you had paid for your camper’s spot.

 When would we be able to change camper weeks for the 2021 season?

We will be communicating all the details for that process in September as more information is compiled.

 When can new campers apply for open camper spots for summer 2021?

New campers can do so starting in February 2021 after openings have been determined.
