Camp Daggett has temporarily suspended the search for someone to fill the position of Executive Director at Camp Daggett due to the COVID-19 epidemic and uncertainty of what the future holds. Camp Daggett is celebrating 95 years this year! The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who can build upon and expand, with our talented and experienced staff, an already successful operation. Summer Employment Opportunities
Every summer, Camp Daggett hires individuals for many positions. Available positions change frequently, but we are generally looking for individuals to fill the following general positions. Camp Daggett is a residential summer camp located near Petoskey, MI. As a member of the summer staff, you will be need to live and work at camp from June 7th through August 9th. In addition to a salary, you will be provide with room and board, including three square meals a day. The first week consists of a staff training week, followed by 8-one week sessions that run from Sunday afternoon to Saturday morning. All staff receive one night off per week, as well as the time between sessions. All positions require us to conduct a thorough background check with state and federal law enforcement, consult prior employers, and gather three character reference letters. First aide certification will be provided to all employees who are not currently certified. All staff, other than kitchen staff, must be 18 years of age or older at the time of employment.
Cabin counselors are responsible for the supervision of approximately 10 campers in their cabin. Counselors sleep in cabins with their campers and eat meals with their cabin during our meal times. Each week, you will be assigned a group of campers of similar age (from 7-14 years old), with new campers coming each week. During the day, cabin counselors work in an area all summer, while cabin groups rotate through all our areas. Each cabin, along with their brother or sister cabin, will also go on an overnight campout once a week.
Each of our areas is ran by an area director (AD). Each AD plans lessons for their areas, coordinates their counseling staff, and helps to run lessons in their areas. Area Directors also plan one camp wide night activity each week. On counselor nights off, an area director will sometimes be responsible for supervising a cabin while the counselor is not at camp. Our areas include: Swimming, Sailing, Canoeing, Arts and Crafts, Nature and Recreation.
Individuals are also hired to serve as a Camp Health Officer, Maintenance Director, and Kitchen Staff.
