Kayak for a Cause on Walloon Lake

For fourteen years now, Kayak for a Cause on Walloon Lake has brought together paddlers and lovers of the outdoors to share in a fun and unique event that not only showcases the beautiful lake that Camp Daggett calls home, but also helps support a worthy cause.  In our 14th year we invite you to join our kayaking team, and take part in this great event with the goal of raising dollars in support of the Camp Daggett Adventure Educaton Center (CDAC) and it’s student programs. Please consider supporting this great event, or join in the fun yourself as we paddle around the pristine waters of Walloon Lake on July 16, 2022.

This is a non-competitive event.  There are so many things to do in Northern Michigan in the summer that we changed the format to a one-day event.  We are changing up the event again this year.  The emphasis this year is keeping it a fun time for the kayakers (must be 18+ to participate) and providing an opportunity to visit Camp Daggett.  This year kayakers will begin at Bear Cove Marina at 9:00 a.m. (arriving at 8:30 a.m. to get set up) and will proceed North to the Mill Pond, then down the east side of the west arm of Walloon Lake.  The kayakers will stop at the home of Rick and Donna Gross for a chance to get out and stretch their legs.  They will they will proceed to the narrows and cross over to the west side of the west arm and go north to Camp Daggett, arriving around 1:00 p.m. to have lunch.  Friends and family may join the kayakers for lunch.  (Kayakers must indicate the number of guests when registering.)   After lunch, kayakers will get on the spotter boat with the sponsor banners and proceed to tour the foot and east arm of Walloon Lake.  We invite Wallooners along the way to jump in behind the spotter boat and create a parade of boats.  The plan is to be back at Camp around 4 p.m.  Individuals under the age of 18 are welcome to come to lunch and participate on their own family boats in the parade of boats around the lake.

Get some friends together and join the fun!
