Camp Daggett on Walloon Lake - Northern Michigan Camp

Lamb’s Retreat for Songwriters and Springfed Arts will raise funds for the Camp Daggett Camper Scholarship Fund at two concerts, November 6 and November 13, 2010, 8 pm start, at the Birchwood Inn in Harbor Springs.  The public is invited to reserve seats for $15 suggested donation by visiting www.springfed.org and following the link to the Springfed Arts E-Store.

The Saturday evening concerts will host a variety of national artists who gather at Lamb's Retreat to inspire fellow songwriters.  Saturday, Nov 6 concert will feature Michael Smith, Jonathan Bird, Dick Siegel, Annie Capps and Karen Mal.  Saturday, Nov 13 concert will feature Don Henry, Sally Barris, James Gordon, Stewart Francke, Ember Swift and Carolyn Striho.  The shows are hosted by retreat director John D. Lamb, winner of the 2007 Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Acoustic/Folk Recording.  This will be his 16th annual gathering of songwriters in Harbor Springs.  His son Daniel, now 18, is a former Camp Daggett camper.

All funds from concert receipts after Lamb’s Retreat’s for Songwriters recover their costs will be donated to Camp Daggett.  The fund will supplement the tuition for campers who may not be able to attend camp for financial reasons.

"Springfed Arts is a nonprofit arts organization whose mission includes inspiring young folks who may grow up to be writers," says Lamb.  "Camp Daggett on Walloon Lake is good place for inspiration.  Hemingway had a way with words, and he spent his young summers nearby.  Like the MacMillan/Post family, we feel that all kids, regardless of family income, have an opportunity to experience Camp Daggett."
