It has been an exciting year at camp with a wide variety of groups renting our lodge overlooking Walloon Lake. We started out the year sponsoring a Business After Hours in January by hosting four of our local Chambers of Commerce. This allowed us to showcase camp to over 150 local businesses! We followed that up with a host of groups that included the boy and girl scouts, at-risk youth groups, church retreats, and a multitude of school groups. Among the corporate groups staying with us at the Lodge were Michigan State University, Northern Michigan Sports Medicine, and a therapeutic remediation group that meets on a regular basis at camp.
My favorite groups are the COOR & Char-Em special needs camps that we arrange and staff in late spring. This involves boat & hay rides, singing camp songs, catching frogs at the nature pond, and the always popular dance on the basketball court. After a great summer camp season, we had our friends from Camp Quality put on another week long camp for children battling cancer. The Leadership Little Traverse Program spent a few days with us to jump start their year of paying it forward for our local community. This was followed by the Rotary Club Student Exchange Program with more than 60 foreign exchange students that will be staying in Michigan and Canada throughout the school year. After a few more school groups, church retreats, and a Boy Scout Camporee of over 100 scouts representing 5 different troops, we then held our bi-annual Fall Festival Celebration with over 900 attending!
The Lodge at Camp Daggett is open all year and is the perfect setting for your next church, family, school, or corporate retreat. For information about renting our state of the art log lodge on the shores of beautiful Walloon Lake, contact Ed at 231-347-9742 ext. 112.
